Jane Halonen Jane S. Halonen taught at Psychology at Alverno College, James Madison University, and University of West Florida where she also served as the Dean of the College of Arts and Sciences for a decade. Current publications include The Psychology Major’s Companion: How to Get You Where You Want to Go with Dana Dunn and the Critical Thinking Companion for Introductory Psychology, co-authored with Cynthia Gray. Jane’s most recent research and consulting emphases have been in assessment, assisting good departments become great ones, and trying to help legislators and others with serious misconceptions about psychology understand the true nature of discipline. In 2000, she won the Distinguished Teaching Award from the American Psychological Foundation. In 2019 she was named a “Distinguished Member of Psi Chi.”The Society for the Teaching of Psychology named the “Early Career Award” in her honor as a tribute to her mentoring of generations of psychology teachers at all levels. A proud member of the group that created the Best Practice conference that grew into ACT, she credits her membership in STP as a significant factor in achieving a satisfying career as a psychology educator and encourages everyone fascinated by the mysteries of teaching psychology to join STP. | Christina Maslach Christina Maslach, PhD, is a Professor of Psychology (Emerita) and a researcher at the Healthy Workplaces Center at the University of California, Berkeley. She received her A.B. from Harvard, and her Ph.D. from Stanford. She is best known as the pioneering researcher on job burnout, producing the standard assessment tool (the Maslach Burnout Inventory, MBI), books, and award-winning articles. Her latest book is The Burnout Challenge: Managing People’s Relationships with their Jobs (2022). The impact of her work is reflected by the official recognition of burnout, as an occupational phenomenon with health consequences, by the World Health Organization in 2019. She has been honored with multiple awards, both academic and public, including an award from the National Academy of Sciences for scientific reviewing (2020), and her inclusion in Business Insider’s 2021 list of the top 100 people transforming business. |
