Jane S. Halonen Excellence in Teaching Award

Eligibility Criteria

The Jane S. Halonen Excellence in Teaching Award recognizes outstanding instructors who are in their first ten years of full-time teaching, regardless of institution type. For this award, applicants should prepare dossiers consistent with the award category that aligns with the institution where they teach: Robert S. Daniel for four-year colleges and universities, Wayne Weiten for two-year colleges, and Mary Margaret Moffett Memorial for high schools. Applicants must be currently teaching. Applicants must be members of STP and may join at any time.

Per STP policy, each fall, the prior year’s award applicants will receive an email reminding them that their applications will be automatically rolled over to be reviewed again in the upcoming cycle. At this point, former Halonen applicants who have entered their 11th year of full-time teaching are welcome to update their materials and resubmit them in appropriate award category (i.e., Daniel, Weiten, or Moffett).
